Zeras Industries Services - Asbestos Survey & Removal
Surveying:Our surveyors are BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) qualified and are experienced in a wide range of areas within the asbestos industry.
Surveys are carried out to HSE Standard MDHS 100 surveying, sampling and assessment of asbestos containing materials.
Most surveys tend to be undertaken initially to comply with the duty to manage asbestos in premises. In these cases the aim of an asbestos survey is, as far as reasonably practicable, to locate and assess all the ACMS (asbestos containing materials) present in the building and to present the information collected in a way which allows the employer to manage the risk. Where a surveyor is used, the purpose, the type of survey and report format required are established and agreed with the client at a preliminary meeting or site visit before starting the survey. One of the main issues is to decide when samples should be taken to establish whether or not ACMS are present.
Type 1 survey
To record the presence, possible nature and location of asbestos and to include a visual assessment of its condition. No samples are taken and so the possible presence of asbestos has to be assumed unless there is strong evidence to the contrary.
Type 2 survey
As type 1, but this survey involves basic sampling, identification and assessment.
Samples are taken from all materials that are likely to contain asbestos within areas that are easily accessible. These are then sent to UKAS accredited laboratories for analysis and a report is produced on the asbestos content of the samples.
Type 3 survey
To describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMS in the building. This requires full access to all areas of a building and may involve intrusive / destructive inspection. This type of survey precedes major refurbishment or demolition. Our surveyor will guide you as to the most appropriate type of survey and this will depend on a number of elements including the specification of the building, its pattern of use and future plans for the building.
All surveys include a photographic record and recommendations for action required to enable you to comply with the regulations.
Remediation:
Sometimes it is not necessary to remove asbestos; in certain circumstances a regulated process of treatment can be undertaken. Zeras Industries offer a full range of proven treatments that will encapsulate the asbestos and render it safe.
Removal:
Removal of asbestos needs to be carried out with the utmost care and under controlled conditions to eliminate the risk of human exposure to the material. We work to site specific method statements which detail the scope and method of execution of the asbestos removal and disposal together with anticipated timescales, All work is carried out in accordance with ARCA best practice and to the highest professional standards.
